WHO WE ARE?
In Canada alone, about 1.2 million young people are affected by mental health, and as it stands, about 85% of them will not receive the supports they need. National data that reflect the well-being of Canadian and American children and youth paint a complex picture, but evidence suggests that young people are experiencing increased rates of anxiety, sadness, hopelessness, loneliness, self-harm, and suicidality. In a climate where living costs are soaring, accessible public health services are stretched, and technological advancements are impacting young generations in unprecedented ways, our mission is to provide science-based, developmentally oriented, and trauma-informed services to kids, teens, and their families so that they can navigate the modern complexities of life, nurture their neurodevelopment and mental health, and live a life with purpose and meaning.
“Our mission is to deliver science-based, developmentally oriented, and trauma-informed care to young people so to nurture their neurodevelopment, mental health, and wellness”

Cara Coldwell,
Our Workspace
At House of Minds, science-based, developmentally-oriented, and trauma-informed care are at the heart of everything we do, from the services we offer to the space we've designed. Our practice is located in Toronto's lively west end community, near Bloor and Lansdowne, along major public transportation lines, in a stunning heritage building that also hosts the Museum of Contemporary Art, Pride Toronto, Toronto Biennial of Art, and other social, cultural, and creative enterprises. This creative environment reflects our belief that humans thrive in spaces that inspire curiosity, comfort, safety, and connection. Far removed from the sterile, formal, or otherwise intimidating atmospheres of traditional clinics and medical centers, our office offers an artful, nature-filled space designed to help children and teens feel at ease. With tall ceilings, large windows, abundant natural light, and living greenery, the space promotes calm and openness. At the same time, playful elements like life-sized games, a growing library, arts and crafts, and mini-sports, invite young minds to explore, express, and grow. Informed by decades of developmental and psychological science, our approach integrates nature, art, and play to support the cognitive, emotional, and social well-being of young people. Each visit aims to spark transformation that begins before an appointment starts, and continues long after it ends.
